Hello again....wow, 3 posts in one day....are you sick of me yet?! hehehehe (Shaddap even if you are!)
Lora wrote me another email today, she cracks me up...I really like her. She and I have been writing emails and talking on the phone occasionally since I was about 18 years old...when she first wrote to me with a packet of postcards of Journey, as a reward and thanks for turning in some bootlegger people that they were concerned about. I had written her, asking about an item that I bought (kinda like I did today), to see what details she might have about it, and when I told her who it was I bought it from, she said something like, "We've been trying to shut them down for several years now, thanks so much for helping us with this, it provides great proof that we need." So, ever since then, we've been computer pen-pals.
Okay, so here's the email...(as a reply to my last one to her earlier today).....

We posted on our web site that fans could submit one email with a maximum of 3 questions during the month of December. We randomly pulled some out and Steve answered them. We posted his answers right before his birthday. Of course, he is damned if he does, and damned if he doesn't. I have found that people get very judgmental and critical behind a keyboard. I wonder if they would say all the negative shit to his face if they were to meet him.
Anyway, here's the link if you want to read his responses. I thought he did a great job: http://www.fanasylum.com/steveperry
Losing weight is very tough. I need to drop about 15 pounds and restricting my intake of food will not do the job. My metabolism is so slow that I could eat a carrot stick a day and gain weight. The only solution for me is exercise and I have been too lazy to do that lately.

Yes Stephen, I would have to agree, you are definitely "damned if you do and damned if you don't," so why do you even bother??
Just don't. You've done more than your fair share of the BS that goes along with PR. Be done with it.
I would issue some public statement, "All you people out there who like to sit behind a keyboard and badmouth me, criticize me, condemn me and cause bickering and fighting amongst the fans of Journey can just go about your business WITHOUT ME from now on, I am done. Buh-bye." And just pull the plug on everybody, refuse to sign autographs, don't allow photos with fans, stay as private as possible etc., and just live your life. (You refused to have your picture taken with ME when I met you, stating something like, "I don't want more photos of me showing up in tabloids saying you're my girlfriend as they have done in the past.") I thought, at the time, "I wouldn't either, ok, I understand." But boy was I BUMMED OUT about that....ya schnook. I wish you had known me, then you would have known I would never do that.
Of course, I don't know how easy that would be for you to do, to put an end to all the hullaballoo...or how much grief you'd get from various companies like Sony and Fan Asylum, or whomever else you deal with about PR stuff. But, if it were ME, I'd say, "The only thing I can do at this point, is remove myself from the equation." I've done that in my life several times, and it is the only thing that really works. It nips everything in the bud. But, then again, if you did that, (and from my own experience as well), you know that more turmoil would still ensue, with rumors that your health is failing, you're going blind, you can't type on a computer anymore because you have arthritis in your hands now, and your memory is crap so you can't remember the answers to some of those fan's questions!! I guess no matter if you DID stop all that stuff, people would still be wallowing in reactivity about it for years afterwards.
I wish the world were filled with more PRO-active people, than RE-active.
That day WILL come, however, when you will really have to do it....you'll have to put a stop to it all.
My favorite human of all time, Miep Gies, (who lived to be 100), stopped writing letters to me in November of 2008, stating that her health was failing, and she loved receiving my letters but could no longer continue to answer them, as she had to focus all of her energy on her own well-being. She died on January 11, 2009. That woman wrote me letters until she was 100 years old. She NEVER stepped back away from answering questions and letters, until she absolutely had to. I admire that about her, and God knows I loved her so much, like she was my own grandmother, but at the same time, I would have understood if she had ended our correspondence earlier than that too. I knew that day would come.
Well, anyway, I'll go to that link Lora sent, and read this stuff....I didn't even know about it, actually, so this is going to be interesting. I'll add my comments about it next time I write to you. I wonder if your ears are burning, with all the talking Lora and I have been doing about you today?!! hehehehe
Love, Rebecca
