Wow....this has really been National Shit Week. Not just for ME, or my mom, but for Journey too.
Today, I woke up to a Facebook announcement from Ultimate Classic Rock's page, that said Deen Castronovo was arrested in Oregon for beating up his girlfriend. He had to pay $55K in bail to be released. I'm rather disgusted by this, as you might imagine. What a sonofabitch.
I can tell you, I will NOT be seeing Journey ever again in concert as long as I live. I am, like you have been for quite awhile now, absolutely DONE with those guys. This was the LAST STRAW. I am NOT going to fork over MY money just to pay Neal's alimony payments, lawyer fees, or Deen's abhorrent BAIL either. Screw those guys. The only 2 I feel sorry for in that band, are Arnel & Ross. So far, they haven't done anything negative or against the law, nor have they publicly showed their JUNK on the internet or cheated on their wives....that we know of. Jonathan has skeletons in HIS closet too, but you'd know more about that than I would.
Ya know, I really miss Steve Smith. Now THAT guy has class.....and so do you, Mr. Perry. I can see why you decided to break away from these guys, they are really quite self-absorbed and juvenile, and extremely self-destructive. I mean, most humans are both of those things, sure, we all have that to some degree. But it would really be difficult to be around those guys for a long time like you were, without losing your sanity. I again applaud and commend your decision to quit.
If it's not FUN for them anymore---and who the hell can keep up with all the constant touring----you KNOW they are all burned out-----so I think they really should just QUIT and RETIRE and move on.
Deen should know better, but I never really felt any kind of trust towards that guy, ya know? I mean, Smitty---come on, look at Smitty's EYES for cripes' sake....he wouldn't hurt a fly. He was shy, gentle, quiet, and brilliant, introverted, but very much a class act. EVERYBODY trusted Smitty.
Deen however, looks like he's trying too hard to be a wild crazy rock star, MIGHT be on drugs, (who knows), and if he beats up his girlfriend, well, ya kinda get the feeling that he'll do it again to someone else later in his life too....at least, that's what the odds are. Once a woman-beater, always a woman-beater. If he has a violent leaning towards someone he claims to love, you really can't trust him.
In all honesty, with all the troubles going on in the band of Journey lately, they really should consider just retiring and being done with it. All they are doing is embarrassing their fans. It's quite upsetting, and distracting, takes away from the music. But hey, KARMA is a bitch. You kinda knew they would get their come-uppance eventually for the bullshit they put you through. And so, here it is.
The thing about Journey is, Neal still believes it is "on top" in the music business, when you and I both know that it really isn't. Most people call it a DINOSAUR BAND. For some reason, he thinks he is still some big man on campus...when the rest of the world sees him as just an old guy, playing an outdated-style of music, trying to hang on to his youth---but not doing a very good job of it. Journey's new songs RARELY get radio play. Only the old stuff does. The stuff that YOU helped create.
Ah well.....I have actually found a sympathy card to mail to Neal Schon and his friend Deen......you'll like this.....
At first I was like, "WTF?!" and I had to re-read it a few times.....but then I was like, "HA!! That one is PERFECT to send to the band!!" But, alas, I put it back into the card holder at the store, and only took a picture of it instead. Just too damned classic to ignore. "along life's JOURNEY....never STOP BELIEVING..." holy CRAP who the hell wrote that, as a SYMPATHY CARD?!!!
Kinda creeps me out, actually. Funny though.
Well, I am off to bed. For the first time all week, I actually got a full night's sleep with only 12 wake-up episodes. I felt pretty good all day, but I am tired now. Have a good weekend. I'll be in DC until Sunday evening. Call up Neal and Deen, and tell them you're gonna SUE THEIR STUPID ASSES if these juvenile shenanigans do not CEASE AND DESIST, because it is causing Journey to look BAD, and you are part of that image, and therefore, they are SLANDERING YOU TOO.
Just my suggestion. Karma, though, is awesome.
