I'll TELL ya what's shakin', bacon!!

You are cordially invited to donate whatever amount of money you can to the brand spanking new "Steve Perry Fan Help Network." 

Yes, you read that right.  It's an idea blooming on the Steve Perry Faithful Ones Facebook page right now, as we speak.  In fact, I'm going to spearhead the thing and get the ball rolling, just by mentioning it here on my blog RIGHT NOW.

So, Stephen, you've been sitting in your house in San Diego, drinking your coffee and reading this blog of mine secretly every day for a long time now, (let's pretend anyway), and you've often seen me express lament and feel dissonance and despair about so many people having so many problems and going through such a hard time right now, people I know and love, friends, family, and so many other people that I don't even know at all.  Right??

Well, what the hell GOOD does it do to sit around and lament, and despair about something WHEN WE CAN ALL ACTUALLY PITCH IN TOGETHER AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT??? PRO-active beats the hell out of RE-active any day, right??  So, let's all be PRO-active about this!!

Everybody's heard of WWJD.  "What would Jesus do?"  Well, my thought is, if you can't quite wrap your head around THAT little idea, how about "WWSPFD?"  WHAT WOULD STEVE PERRY FANS DO?"  We're all a family, you know, a huge family of fans who love you, Mr. Steve Perry.  We have been through a lot together, such as waiting around for concert tickets, backstage passes, and waiting for YEARS for you to PUT OUT A NEW RECORD FOR CRIPES' SAKE----ahem----but I digress----and we all share the exact same passion for your voice, your music, your talent, your human imperfections, and all that goes along with being "Mr. Steve Perry."

We all have quite a lot in common, actually, we fans of yours.

So, the idea is, let's help each other out when we need a boost.  Nothing wrong with that!!  I mean, that's what family and friends are supposed to DO for each other, right?  So many people out there RIGHT NOW need a little boost, to help them get through a tough time---the LEAST we can do is make them smile, and let them know that we are there if they ever need a hand.

Yeah, there are LOTS of us Steve Perry fans out here in la-la-land.  Thousands, if not millions of us.  We can make some major positive changes, and help those who really need it.  So why not go for it, and do what we can??

When somebody on a Facebook page contributes so many awesome things there every day, but then suddenly writes that she cannot do it anymore because she's having a very tough time financially, etc., and might even have to have her CAT destroyed because she can't afford to buy FOOD for it-----well, that's a problem.   NOBODY should have to feel that the only option available is to put their cat to death because they can't afford to buy a can of cat food.

Believe me, I've been low to that point, on many occasions myself.  In fact, the day before I picked up my dog Sassy from the dog pound, I lost my job.  I didn't know how the HELL I would be able to afford another mouth to feed, but somehow, that dog rescued ME right back, and I made it work.

I don't actually know this woman on Facebook, who is having such a tough time.  Like I mentioned before, I just joined this Facebook page a week ago, so I'm rather new to the whole thing, and I don't know anybody there at all.  But, does that REALLY MATTER, if somebody who shares so much love and passion for YOU, Mr. Man, is having a hard time??  Shouldn't the REST OF US try to HELP that person??  Because, after all, WHAT WOULD STEVE PERRY FANS DO???

I wholeheartedly believe we should all pitch in and try to do whatever we can to help EACH OTHER.

So, the idea is this....

Everybody out there reading this blog RIGHT NOW, who is a fan of Steve Perry, dig into your pockets, and donate whatever amount you can----even if it's only $1.00----to this Steve Perry Fan Help Network.  You'll get a receipt for your donation, and the money will sit in a bank account until one of our fellow fans expresses a dire need for help.  Then, the overseer of the donations will send a check to help that person out.  There is no "profit" to be made from this idea.  It's just an unofficial thing, NOT a business, NOT an agency, NOT any form of bureaucratic clusterfuckery at all.  It's just a "kitty," that we create, to SAVE that other kitty for that fellow fan.

My thought is, let's ask Lora Beard if she might help us with it.  I haven't asked her yet, but it's worth a shot...she might also have other ideas.  In fact, she might even like the thought of getting Fan Asylum involved somehow with other clients they work with too, or maybe she could even ask YOU, Stephen, to pitch in and help the fans as well.  It's worth a shot to ask her about it, at least.

If she can't help, though, WE STILL CAN, and SHOULD do something to help our fellow Perry fans.  Now, if the boys of Journey want to do something similar for all Journey fans, then I say AWESOME, and GO FOR IT.

But, for now, this idea with YOUR NAME ON IT Stephen, in spirit of all the love and music you've given US over the years, is currently brimming and people are buzzing about it, so I thought I would at least mention it here for what its' worth.

I'm sending this woman some money on Friday, and if anyone who reads this blog is interested in donating a little money, please write me a comment here, with your email address, and we can work from there.

Forget about the election season, forget about the political mess we're in, forget about the economy issues, and just FEEL YOUR HUMANITY INSIDE TELLING YOU TO DO THE RIGHT THING.  No matter what.

If you want to help, but really cannot donate any money---that's OKAY!!! You can help in other ways!! We can BE the change we want to see in the world!!  We can BE a community of people who barter for things that they need from each other, we can help do odd jobs for people who need it, we can make a greeting card that offers hope and prayers, there are LOTS of things you can do to help someone who loves Steve Perry as much as you do.

WE CAN HAVE OUR VERY OWN "CONCERT," OF HELPING EACH OTHER, ALL THE WHILE HEARING STEVE PERRY SINGING IN THE BACKGROUND.

So, let's brain storm, and let's get this party started!!!  WOO HOO!!!

That's really gotta say something to ya, Stevie baby----that we would help another fan who really has nowhere else to turn.  THAT is how much you are loved too.  I hope that you'll give the Steve Perry Fan Help Network your blessing.
