What a thrilling Monday...how's yours?

How the heck are ya, on this "thrilling" Monday afternoon, Stephen?  I hope you're doing well and staying happy.  The weather here is GORGEOUS, in the 80's, and I'm still wearing shorts!  YAY!  I'm not looking forward to the colder weather, but I do hope it won't be as awful as last year.  We had 8 feet of snow all dumped on us at one time last year, and it was horrible. Trees had to be ripped out, bushes were flattened, power lines were toast...and usually Pittsburgh doesn't get much snow at all, so that was BIZARRE.

Ah well, so this is the time of year that I love pumpkin pie, and the changing colors of the leaves, and the warm breezes on a sunset-soaked evening.  I'll soon bake some cupcakes for Pete's daughter & son-in-law who will be visiting this coming weekend, and I've already sent out 6 Halloween bags full of candy for my "kids" who live in Michigan.  I send them little presents like that for the holidays.  I love to spoil kids!!

Anyway, I was taking a huge load of stuff leftover from the wedding, (as we clear out our garage), to the local Goodwill store, and when I got out of the car, one of the guys working there said, "Hey, is that a Journey t-shirt from the NEW tour, or from an old one?" (I had actually forgotten that I was wearing one)! So I had to look down at myself before I knew what he was talking about.  "OH!" I said, "This one is from an older tour where Steve Augeri was the lead singer." He crinkled up his nose, and I laughed. "I know, he wasn't exactly the right guy, but he did as good as he could." The guy answered, "They are still going strong thanks to the Soprano's!" And I said, "You mean, thanks to the NEW lead singer, and to Steve Perry who set the standard."  He agreed.  I just LOVE IT when I meet fellow Journey fans here & there!!

So that was the big thrill of MY Monday afternoon. Now I get to make some home made pizza for dinner.  Speaking of "home made," that just made me think of the song "Home Made Love," and WOW that song was so cool...still is really, but it's one of those dusty songs sitting on a shelf that they never play on the radio.  Ah well, OH...I nearly forgot this!!

I've been taking loads of stuff to Goodwill all weekend, actually, and at a different store that I unloaded stuff at, these 20-somethings were looking through a huge bin of old record albums, laughing at some, and exclaiming how awesome others were.  I overheard them say, "Hey here's one by JOURNEY! COOL!"  So I peeked around the corner (wearing another Journey t-shirt for some reason...I think I've got a dozen or so), and I said, "WHICH ONE?!"  Ha! They jumped because I startled them---some old 40-something chick asking them about a Journey album in a Goodwill store--- but the guy said, "Uhhh...I think it's...Uhhh..." and I looked at it and said, "AH! Departure. EXCELLENT. I've already got it. Carry on!"

And as I walked away I heard them say, "Yeah let's keep this one, we're going to hang albums all around our living room as decoration!"  (My heart sank. LISTEN TO THE DAMNED THING I wanted to yell...but oh well).  Then I came back around that aisle a few minutes later, only to find it SITTING there on a SHELF...I mean OMG---(oh my GAWD)---like, WTF?! (what the F#$%!k)---and I picked it up, smiled sadly, wishing the youth of today had a CLUE about music, lamenting that I'm getting old and all my favorite music from the 60's, 70's, and 80's is all just fading away with the wind every day...it's just not FAIR dammit...when the hell did I get OLD all of a sudden??! OH THE HUMANITY!!

But then I snapped out of my reverie when the guy came running back suddenly---"Oh crap! I forgot that one! Um....oops....ok...well, are you going to buy it then?" But I smiled and said, "Nope. I've got it already. You really should listen to it, though, they really are awesome." He said, "Yeah they are, but, are you SURE you don't mind if we buy it, we just sat it down by mistake and forgot it...but we really like the cover, and we'd like to get it."  I handed it to him and said, "ENJOY!"

So, somewhere in a college dorm room (most likely) in Pittsburgh, hanging on a wall in some 20-something's living room, is the Departure album, in all its glory.

It restored my faith in humanity.

Just wanted to share that with you. Have a great week Stephen.

Bye for now!

Love, Rebeca
