The SADE concert!! WOOOOO!!

Dear Steve,

STOP THE PRESSES!! If you are currently planning a concert tour for your new album, PLEASE go see SADE in concert FIRST!!  She had the MOST AMAZING show I have ever seen!!  It was magical! Artful! Creative! Jaw-dropping!

I took some pretty good photos too, which I will share with you--but you have GOT to do something like this! I am serious! She and her entire band came up out of the stage FLOOR on these pedestals, they had silky white curtains surrounding the entire stage that a video of images played on, and OH MY GAWD, "Smooth Operator" was AWESOME---just like a film noir---they all wore black and white, with gangster hats, there was an intro unlike ANYTHING I have ever seen in my LIFE that just blew everybody away!!

City names surrounded by round light bulbs scrolled all around the top part of the screen, while an "alley" was on the bottom, with a doorway and silhouettes of her band members appeared, a "cat" and car "headlights" appeared here and there, and a view of Sade in a window, putting on lipstick...it was the ABSOLUTE COOLEST damned thing I have ever seen. There was a voice over of a man who narrated the film noir-style of the Smooth Operator...holy CRAP Stephen, you have GOT to do something like that!

Please consider it, I mean, if you REALLY want to knock everybody's socks off, go see Sade soon and COPY everything she does!! You'll have every fan in the place completely floored and utterly  FLABBERGASTED!!

Enjoy the photos...
I took another photo of Perry Highway...just for you.

Sade, I think this was her first song...a new one from her newest album, Soldier of Love. *Can't remember the title though, sorry*  See the screen behind her? The lights from above and the screen in back was fine, but as she continued, it became MUCH more elaborate...

Like this one, had a video of her, walking through a field of flowers, laying on the grass, smiling, rollilng around, laughing, etc....a very nice video, and I captured her face!

Here is the city scape from "Smooth Operator," very cool, like a film noir style, they were all wearing black and white, it looked awesome!

This sign said, "SADE LIVE, TONIGHT IN PITTSBURGH" with red silky curtains that tumbled down in each corner...very theatrical...

THEN, later in the show, huge white silky curtains cascaded down from all sides, surrounding the entire stage...and they cast a video while the performers were lit up from behind, that's Sade in the center, and her keyboardist behind her...with trees all around...

Before they took the stage behind the curtain, the tree images changed several times, all black and white images, but huge...very awesome...she set the entire ambiance of the show just by doing all this fancy stuff, and it was amazing...

Another tree image on the surrounding silky curtains...

And here is just her keyboard player lit up from behind.

There she is again, on the screen behind, walking in the field of flowers...."Kiss of Life" was the song she sang to this one.

And here is the tour book that Pete bought for me at the end of the show...she is an amazing performer, well worth every penny to go see her!! I am very glad we did.

Have you ever heard of Leon Russel? Pete has dragged me to a rib-festival on the river, and he's performing---I swear he sounds just like Willy Nelson and looks like the forgotten ZZ Top member. Pete says he's been around in the music world forever, and has even helped to discover Bob Dylan, and will be performing with him in August. I've never heard of the guy, but okay, we sat through it and I survived some of those country music tunes...bleah. (I really don't like country music AT ALL).

Oh my GAWD, I am so SAD about Clarence Clemons, what a loss!! He was amazing--now what will Bruce do?! I mean, Kenny G?! (Kenny G makes me violent)! No way! Ok then, Dave Koz? Love him, but no way. Richard Elliott? Hmmm...he is awesome, so maybe...kind of a different style, definitely, but he could probably make a good effort.....but wow, really, there's NOBODY that I can think of who can replace The Big Man.

Pete just bought us tickets to see Meatloaf!! Cool!!  I know he had some issues on Celebrity Apprentice, (never watch that crap), but his music is pretty cool. That'll be an interesting show at least.  My former roommate in DC, (David) does a mean Meatloaf kareoke!  But that's the closest I've ever come to seeing the real thing.

Well, I have to scoot. Hope you had a great Father's Day. You deserve it.

Love, Rebecca
