I hope you had a nice July 4th holiday.
Ain't it the truth?!
Or how about this one...
But THIS one, oh man, THIS one had me laughing so hard I cried...
Now THAT is hilarious!! I even giggled for another 20 minutes after laughing so hard...
Ah well, I spent the day cleaning the house---woooo hooooo I know you're jealous----(rolling my eyeballs). But, Pete's kids are coming to visit this weekend, and next weekend my sister and her family will be here for the very first time, so I'm trying to get this place all spiffy and shit.
I've hung wallpaper around my kitchen as a backsplash---turned out pretty well, considering I'd never done that before. It just needed something, and since I have never tried doing tile work before (and don't have the time to do that now), I figured this was a quick fix (and inexpensive too).
I've moved some things around in the kitchen too, like the items on my hutch. For some reason, Florence got me started on this collection of Campbells Soup tureens and soup bowls and mugs, etc., (she used to be in a club when she was in high school, where the collected all the little characters off the labels and she has them all in a frame, it's on the wall of her living room here in our house).
So I've arranged the soup tureen, the 2 sets of mugs (3 each), along with the 2 soup bowls with lids and the 3 plastic bowls, all mixed with my white soup tureen's and plates, and gravy boats. It sounds like a mix-mox, but it turned out pretty well, I think. Here's a photo of it...
Well anyway, what a thrill. I have a knack for that kinda useless decorative crap. I'll bet YOUR kitchen is all modern and hoity-toity-fancy-schmancy and stuff.
As you can see from the photo, mine is more "country" style I guess. I like the depth of wood furniture, (the people who owned our home before we bought it left us this awesome 12-seater Amish-built table and 12 chairs---it's gorgeous), and yeah so I know the curtains are "Better Homes and Gardens" brand, from Wal-Mart, but for now they'll do. The country's where I'm from, and I kinda like the decorative style of it, so I guess I'm kinda stuck in that rut. I just love how the white dishes pop off the brown wood, with a little bit of the red mixing in and blending with the colors of the curtains!
I got this hutch for FREE, actually, from Freecycle...oh Stephen, you have no idea...I am SO horribly addicted to Freecycle....I've got so much cool stuff off that web site for FREE!! And this is NOT a piece of particle board crap either, it's an Ethan Allen piece from a long time ago. It fits this wall by our front door PERFECTLY.
Since I joined Freecycle, I've received a cherry wood lighted curio cabinet with glass shelves, a cherry wood 4 poster Queen sized bed with drawers underneath it, matching cherry wood side tables, and lots of other awesome goodies all for FREE. Ya just gotta love free furniture--not a THING wrong with any of it either, everything is in mint condition!! Ya just can't beat it with a stick!!
I am off to bed now, but I thought about you earlier when I saw the State Farm insurance commercial with the song "Anyway You Want It" playing in the background. I mean, REALLY??
Stephen!! Don't you have enough damned money already? Do you REALLY need to sell out like that?! I mean, come ON, that song is all about kinky SEX, (right)?!-----not insurance!! How LAME!!
It made me sad.
I mean, sure it was cute when the guy was talking on the phone with his insurance agent, and they SPOKE the lyrics back and forth, and then the guys says, "I think we just had ourselves a Journey moment there..." but did ya HAVE to use the actual SONG?! Argh.
You're killin' me.
Just lie to me, will ya, and tell me it was all Neal's idea! Then I'll forgive you. MmmmKay?!
Love you lots, hope you had a fun day off...now get back into that studio young man, and gimme summa dat groovin' hot tunage of yours, babycakes!! Goodnight. SMOOCH!!
Love, Rebecca
