Hi Steve,
I don't know about you, but I didn't sleep very well last night thanks to my dog. She gets all freaked out whenever she hears thunder and sees lightening. Poor baby has done that all her life since she was just a little bitty fur ball of a puppy. But, when it happens in the middle of the night, well, she wakes me up with her whining, shakes all over like a leaf, and will NOT calm down no matter what I do. I sit on the floor and pet her, hug her, tell her it's okay. That doesn't work.
I go down to the fridge and get a piece of cheese (her favorite), but that only works until she gobbles it down. I lay on the floor next to her, petting her and talking to her, that didn't do anything except give me a back ache. So I finally tried to get her to go down to the basement where my mom is, but she wouldn't stay there. (The storm can't be heard as much down there).
But, I then remembered a Looney Tunes cartoon once where somebody said, "Music soothes the savage beast," and so, MUSIC seemed to work!! I took her to the living room, I plopped my carcass into the comfy recliner, grabbed a blanket, turned on the channel 1833 (which is calm, soothing music), and TAH DAHHH, she jumped up onto the love seat, put her head down, and went to sleep. It took her about a half hour, but she finally calmed down. I was awake from 1 a.m. until about 4:00 this morning, and lemme tell ya, I'm about ready to go ballistic on Mother Nature's ass.
Sure, we all know the FARMERS need rain for the CROPS, so SEND THE RAIN TO IOWA and get it the hell OUT of Pittsburgh. The Amish here have had enough rain, now we are fine, (it's been raining for a whole WEEK, off and on, all day long, but it's STILL muggy and hot). I'm sick of it. Our sump pump can't be turned back on until all the water is drained out of the manhole in our backyard. Everything is soggy, the sky is grey and dreary, and frankly I am fed up. SUMMER is STILL HERE, right?? Suddenly it seems to have turned into FALL right after July 4th. That just annoys me.
Something weird was going on the other day around here too, I noticed a huge helicopter circling around across the street where my neighbors are---they live adjacent with their backs to an electrical company station with lots of towers and wires and stuff, including a cell phone tower---and this helicopter just kept going around and around in circles. I thought maybe they were checking something out at the electrical company. Then I had a horrible thought, "Dear God, I hope it's not going to crash!" So I stood out there watching it for a minute, it seemed to be sporadic about the wobbly path it was taking, so then I ran inside to get my phone to take a photo, and then I thought, "Take video, not just a picture. If it DOES crash, they'll need that to investigate." But as soon as I turned on the video part, the damned thing took off like a wild fire. I have no idea what was going on. Scared me though.
Helicopters make me feel paranoid. If you have ever gone to Washington DC, you'll understand why. They are EVERYWHERE, and it makes you wonder if "Big Brother" really IS keeping track of everything you do all the time. Every day we see at least one helicopter go by around here, in the same path, (and not far from here is a t.v. station so I believe it belongs to them). Though it is possible that a hospital around here has one too. But, other than that, it's kinda rare to see such a thing. I never EVER want to see a plane or a helicopter crash anywhere. Or a dirigible for that matter.
They often have a dirigible at the football games, and I wonder to myself, "what the hell would those thousands of fans in the stands DO if that damned thing crashed in the middle of the field?" Visions of the Hindenburg, ya know? Not pleasant. Every time I see that video footage, and hear that man cry "Oh the humanity," I start crying myself, and feel sick to my stomach. Hell, I cry every time I see the film Titanic. Not to mention various Hallmark greeting card commercials on t.v. (I am a sappy schlub, what can I say)?
In other news, we have a 3-day pass to the comic book convention here, and Burt Ward is going to be there!! We've already met Adam West, so now our lives can be complete. We attended yesterday but no celebrities were there. Vern Troyer will be there and Deen Cain too. (Not too enthused). Anyway, I guess that's about all going on around here. Hope you have a great weekend.
OH!! And ONE of the vendors says he has a FTLOSM t-shirt that I can buy from him too!! YAYYY! (The one I bought in 1994 is trashed, but I still wear it). I need a nicer one though. Bye for now!!
Love you lots...xoxo
Rebecca
Well,
Ever wanted to talk to your favorite famous person, even if he or she is unavailable/unapproachable in real life, or dead and gone, or just not even possible to have a real conversation with? Who doesn't?! Well, so do I. So, I am going to chit-chat with the Main Man, my favorite singer in the entire world, Steve Perry, on this blog, just for the hell of it!! I'm a writer after all, so that's the kind of thing I like doing. Keeps me outta jail. *WINK*
Mmmm sexy...
