A New Beginning with an old Friend

Welcome diligent blog readers of the world...how you found mine is self-explanatory. You have an admiration for Steve Perry. Well, so do I. In fact, I have loved his voice and his everything since the age of 10. I am now 42 years old. The man has been "with me" my whole life really, on the radio, overhead in a department store, even instrumentally on Muzak in an elevator. Everywhere I go, it seems, he's there, singing to me. Is it any wonder then, why I love him so much? He's the only man in my whole LIFE who has stuck with me all these years.

I was watching the movie "Julie and Julia" last week, and thought to myself, "Ya know, I have always wanted to call up Steve Perry, meet him somewhere for pizza, and just sit and talk for hours..." and that thought evolved to, "Even though I've met him in person twice, we never really had time to TALK...but why can't I talk to him NOW, on my own BLOG?" There are so many things I've wanted to talk to him about. Not the "persona" of Steve Perry, the guy on stage putting on a show, pretending to be happy & energetic even when he's not, just to please his fans in the audience. Nope. I want to talk to the REAL Steve Perry. The guy who isn't perfect. The guy who burps, who farts, and who swears, puts his pants on one leg at a time, and who even has bad habits. The guy who is HUMAN and REAL.

And so that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to sit here whenever I feel the urge and talk to him, about whatever I feel like talking about. It'll be a one-sided conversation, sure, but it's the closest thing I can ever get to doing it for real. So, what the hell, I'm going to do it. Read along if you like, add comments if you like, it doesn't matter. He'll probably never read any of it either, but I don't care. It's my own creation, a beginning that I want to share with an old friend who's been in my life for over 30 years.
