So what are you doing lately with your life?

Ok Stephen, what the heck do you DO all day long now that you're not on a stage singing? (That seems to be the #1 question of most fans, so why not start with it)?

Here's what I think...just off the top of my silly imagination, I think you probably sleep in late, (because you deserve to and you CAN), and hey, maybe you don't actually wake up alone---but that's another subject to approach later on, once we get to know each other better---then you have a nice breakfast and then you go out into the crazy world to see what's happening all around you. Then you decide, "howz about a museum today." And off you go, to whatever museum tickles your fancy. I imagine you spending the whole day there, taking your time to see and experience everything you possibly can.

I know you live in LA now, but years ago you used to live in San Francisco. I've been to the Museum of Tolerance in LA, and LOVED IT. As a matter of fact, I used to work at a Museum in Washington DC for six years. So perhaps we have something in common, the love of cultural stuff like Museums? Well, let's just say for the sake of shits and giggles that we DO have that interest in common. The Tolerance Museum is part of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, and he was a Nazi hunter after World War II ended. The Museum itself is even built similarly to the one I used to work at. So, the whole experience was awesome for me, and I would love to work there someday.

When I traveled to San Francisco recently, I toured through the Shanghai Museum of Asian History, and it was really cool. I also attended the Jewish Contemporary Museum, but didn't go through the exhibition. I just bought some things at the gift shop instead. I knew that it would take the entire day to go through it, but didn't have time.

Some cool stuff that might interest you about my recent trip to SF...I climbed up to the Coit Tower and took pictures from the top of it; but WOW that place needs some TLC, it's a mess. They need to hire some exhibition workers who can clean the place from top to bottom and restore some of the mural that is painted around the inside of the tower. (Just my 2 cents).

Then we took a cruise on a boat--but not just ANY boat, oh nooo, this one used to belong to your buddy, Mr. Steve "Machine Gun" Smith (former drummer of Journey). It's called The Privateer, and we took off with about 20 people, with Journey tunes playing in the night as we cruised underneath the Golden Gate Bridge. VERY COOL!! We had some champagne and sang to the awesome tunes. I can see why he got rid of it, though, it's rather small and cramped, and needs a lot of updates and restoration in the cabin area below.

I also got to sit down and have pizza with two more of your buddies, Lora and Cyndi. I've been email friends with Lora since I was about 18. We've written to each other sporadically over the years, and she's always been nice. So I figured we should finally meet in person, and we did. We had a great time, and still keep in touch. I've invited her to visit me in Pittsburgh too, but so far she hasn't been able to travel far due to family concerns.

Ya know, I also have a best friend named Melva June, who is the older sister of Kevin Chalfant. He, as you know, was on the list of potential replacement singers when you left Journey, and he was the lead singer of The Storm, with Neal and Ross. He is a very nice, personable and approachable person. His sister is awesome, and I love her like she's my second mom-away-from-mom. I once did some research for Kevin at the Patent & Trademark Office in DC when I lived there, helping him find out if various names of rock groups were already spoken for. I also helped him with radio station research to get more of his music on the air. He produces new talent, you know, out of his home in Streator Illinois. I really like Kevin. He's a down-to-earth kind of guy, and a very religious family man.

Now, all of what I just told you probably seems rather strange...you may be wondering "how the heck can I possibly know these people?" I mean, some people might even think, "Dang, if I had all those people around who know you personally, I'd try real hard to get to YOU." But ya know what? I've got no intention of doing that. I would have done it years ago if I had. The whole story behind meeting you twice in person is actually quite a fluke. I never expected it, never tried to make it happen, etc., it just suddenly appeared in my lap and blew me away. I've even met all the other members of Journey over the years, several times. (Except for Arnel Pineda). But please know, I have absolutely no interest in contacting you through these people, I would never stalk anybody, or pester anyone, or cause anybody any grief for any reason. So, I admire you from AFAR, and so on this blog, I'll write to you from AFAR.

I'm clear across the country my friend, so you don't have to worry. I'm married even. I have no weird illusions about you, seriously. I confess, I've had a few (ok, a million) daydreams about giving you kisses and hugs and a whole lotta lovin, touchin' squeezin. But, every female on the planet can probably attest to that for themselves. I'm no different. You're a sexy beast. It just cannot be helped. I may be a crazed musically addicted fan of yours, sure, but I assure you, I'm really NOT that crazy. You're a good man, but you're JUST A MAN. A very sexy man. Mmmmm....God Bless You Steve Perry.

Bye for now. Love, Rebecca
