I love comic book conventions...

Hi Steve,

I hope you've enjoyed your weekend having fun doing whatever you love to do!

I'm turning into (?) a total geek I think.  Yeah, maybe I've ALWAYS been one, but I think today was the height of my official geek transformation.  Pete took me to another comic book convention...and I met a bunch of my favorite childhood t.v. show people...

Yes, yes, you guessed it right, that is Christopher Knight (aka: Peter Brady) from the Brady Bunch. He was my FAVORITE Brady, so cute, and not far from my age!!  It was so fun to talk with him awhile, he told us that Barry (the guy who played Greg) just milks this Brady thing all the time, making money from it as often as he can....but this is only one of the first times HE'S ever done it, and now he is having fun with it more than he ever did before.  I used to love that t.v. show, I'd come home from school every day and watch it...and after that, the Partridge Family.

And here is CINDY BRADY!!! Yeah, I know, I TOLD YOU I am a geek.  She seemed nice, but rather jaded and cynical about her years on the Brady Bunch.  She said they paid her much less than the two older girls, and that had always been annoying to her--especially when they had a Brady Bunch reunion, and they wanted to pay her the exact SAME as she had been paid before! She said, "I was just married and going on a honeymoon at that time too, so I figured if they couldn't offer me more than that, I just said, "Sorry, I can't do it, going on a honeymoon---so that's what I did."  (If you look real close to the right of me, Christopher Knight is signing an autograph).

Last year I met Mike Lookinland, who played Bobby Brady too, so I'm only 3 Brady kids away from meeting them all. hehehehehehe  (DORK DORK DORK DORK GEEK GEEK GEEK GEEK)!!!

Oh my GAWD.  I wasn't only a fan of Brady Bunch, but LAND OF THE LOST too!!

Wesley Eure...how COOL IS THAT?!!  (Yeah, I think he liked my boobs. He's pointing at them).

I don't know if YOU ever watched that show, but when I was a kid, that show was the BOMB.  This is the guy who played Will on that show, (the older brother).  He was so awesome to talk to!!  He's written several children's books----and GAVE ME ONE---he autographed it too, and when we started talking, Pete mentioned my web site to him, and he said he would LOVE IT if I put his book on my web site for kids, because it teaches tolerance.  He said he's working on one of the books to become a feature film with Disney.  I crinkled my nose and said, "Ew. Did you know that Disney was a Nazi supporter?" He said, "Oh yeah, yeah, he was NOT a pleasant man, in fact he was GAY, but hid it from everybody in addition to being a mean little brat to everybody he knew all the time."  I said, "Well, maybe his movies were his way of paying penance for his mistakes."  He said, "Yeah, that's what I think too."  Later I went over to a vendor and found a Land of the Lost magnet, took it over to him, and said, "Since you have given ME a lot of great memories, (and a free book), I figure I'd like to give YOU something back. It's not much, and you may not want to keep it, but here ya go..." and he said, "OH WOW!! Thank you! That is so cool, I didn't know they sold much of our stuff here." Then he gave me another hug!

Anyway, we HADDA get the Sleestak costume in the picture too!!  "Enik" was the character of the good Sleestak who was from the past, and saw how things led to the future, whereas the REGULAR Sleestaks were all just mindless drones who didn't know much about the past and didn't care about the future at all.  (SEE!! I AM A GEEK)!!

And of course, the character of Will's younger sister, Holly, was here too.....with ANOTHER Sleestak costume....those coloring books were selling for $20 apiece...(no thanks, I can control my geekdom). She said that she wished kids had more shows like theirs, nowadays, because they really don't have much of an imagination anymore like they used to.  I asked about the man who played their father on the show, and apparently he's a recluse who doesn't do anything in t.v. or film anymore.

Ohhhhhh but HOLY CRAP....THIS guy was so cool....he played "Jody" on Family Affair.  Last year, I met the woman who played his older sister on the show, "Cissy," and had my picture taken with HER too.  This guy was in so many shows and films, I can't even name them all.  And he had a MRS. BEASLEY with him too!!! I LOVE MRS. BEASLEY!!  I said, "Do you know why so many kids LOVED that doll?" He laughed and said, "Ya know, that's one thing I never really wondered about much!" And I said, "Because SHE took care of the KID, by telling them how smart they are, or how big they're getting, or giving hugs and telling us things like she used to be a young girl just like ME.  Nowadays, dolls are all about the KID taking care of IT, and I think kids now more than ever really need more dolls like Mrs. Beasley."  He looked at me, cocked his head to the side, and said, "Ya know, that's true, I never thought about it, but I agree."  Then we mentioned the young actress who played Buffy on the show, and how at the age of 16 she committed suicide.  He said he never knew why she did that, and that he still felt a sadness about it.

Anyway, so there ya go.  Total geek all the way.  My mom said, "Ok so you've met all your childhood heroes, now you can grow up."  I said, "NEVAH!!" hehehehe

Billy Dee Williams was there too, but the line to meet him was too long.  He is still a sexy beast though.

Sooooo you're not quite fully convinced of my GEEKISHNESS yet???

Well, here ya go....last one....

I was leaving the bathroom when suddenly this character started walking down the aisle towards me.  I got close and said loudly, "Well DARTH!! How the hell ARE YOU!  Haven't seen you in YEARS! How ya been?!" and I said, "Wanna have your picture taken with me?!" And he breathed, "SURE."

So, here ya go.  NOW are you satisfied about my claim of geekiness??? WHAT MORE DO I HAVE TO DO TO CONVINCE YOU?!! hehehehehe  You love geeks, though, don'tcha.  Yeahhhh you do.

Well, on that note, I'm going to scoot.

Have a fun time finishing out your weekend.  It's snowing like a big dog outside, March is coming in like a lion around here.

Bye for now.

Love, Rebecca
