Gregg Rolie and Kevin Chalfant....

Hey Stevie-baby,

Did you hear that Gregg Rolie is playing with Ringo Starr's "All-Star Band?"  It's true!

http://m.utsandiego.com/news/2012/jul/18/gregg-rolie-santana-ringo/

Just thought I'd pass that along, in case you didn't already know.

And Kevin Chalfant---someone I consider my friend---(actually his sister Melva was my friend for 15 years)----is all up in chaos about Obama on Facebook again...poor schmuck...all I can do is shake my head about it.  He's gonna have a heart attack if he's not careful, he gets all riled up so easily over stupid shit.  He posted this cartoon,

and apparently he's harping on the fact that Fox News took one sentence OUT OF CONTEXT of a speech Obama recently gave, about how small business owners "didn't do it on their own." This has apparently been causing a lot of people to freak out, and go ballistic, WITHOUT BOTHERING TO READ THE ENTIRE QUOTE. Thanks to Faux News for that crap.

Kevin wrote that "if Donald Duck were running against Obama, he would vote for Donald Duck."  I wrote, "Walt Disney was a Nazi supporter. Just sayin'."  He snapped back, "See how easily good people can be fooled?"  I slammed him back with, "Context is everything. Read the whole speech."

He's really just hiding behind racism.  But, okay, whatever floats yer boat.  Just don't float it by me, or I'll drill a friggin' hole right through it and watch ya sink.  Somebody else wrote, "Okay Kevin, it's time to sing Separate Ways." LOL  That cracks me up!!  Ahhhhh ain't politics fun?!

Look at the shit storm brewing just because of my one-liner...I am now waiting for Kevin to chime in.

  • Rebecca  --  Context is everything. Dave is right, above. Read the entire speech.

Rebecca, We all have out own thoughts and opinions, that's great. I'm thankful to live in a country where I can have mine and others can disagree without persecution. Here's the thing though. I've worked hard and payed taxes all my life. In 40+ years of paying taxes, by God's grace, I've never had to hold my hand out once. Not one cent. I'm happy to contribute to our infrastructure and worthwhile government endeavors via taxes. I'm blessed to be able to help people outside of what the government takes from my pay. Whatever limited success I've had in life thus far has been by the sweat of my brow and the grace of God. I've paid for the government and all of it's accomplishments, good and bad, just like you have. Not the other way around. It churns my gut to hear somebody like Obama suggest that we haven't earned our successes. I don't hear the government taking credit for any failures, mine or theirs. BTW. If Walt Disney was a Nazi Supporter, and I have no reason not to believe you, Don't blame him. He didn't do it. He had help! :oD

  • Rebecca -- www.ushmm.org, you can check about Walt Disney if you like. I used to work at the USHMM. And again, I state, this quote was taken out of context, and everyone should FIRST read the ENTIRE SPEECH before jumping to the wrong conclusions based on one sentence. That is the only fair thing to do. Carry on.

Yeah, Facebook is fun!!  GRIN!!!  It's easy to win a battle of wits with unarmed people.

Well anyway, I'm off to see Fiddler on the Roof tonight with Pete, so I'm going to get all dressed up and put on make-up and stuff, maybe even paint my toenails!  We're going out for dinner first, and yesterday was our 2nd anniversary, so this is our night out to celebrate.

Hope you're having a good week.  Love you lots...

Bye for now.

Love, Rebecca
