Hi Stephen,
Something happened today on Facebook that I really don't fully understand, nor do I honestly NEED to know all the details, but apparently the Steve Perry "Faithful Ones" page has been removed. All I know is, there was a message from the lady who created it, stating that 3 women were apparently bullying others who were criticizing the drawings of another woman there, and it apparently caused her to become very upset and depressed. It's a shame that the negative actions of a few have ruined the enjoyment of so many others. I was enjoying that page, but as in most things in life, the good things never seem to last very long. Why people can no longer act like grown adults, I'll never figure out.
My mother told me when I was a kid that I "carry the world around on my shoulders." Yes, unfortunately that is very true, and I wish to God I knew how to turn it off. I don't WANT to carry the world around on my shoulders. Today I'm sad about a lot of things, but the main thing that is getting to me lately is this "war on women" that apparently a lot of Republican conservative men are waging. I do not understand why they are focusing so much negative energy on women's rights, when there are REAL PROBLEMS that this country is facing. I guess they just have no answers, no solutions, and feel no CONTROL over it, so the only thing they CAN feel control over, is someone weaker than they are. The women, children, elderly and the poor are easy targets for all the hostility that these men are harboring towards what SEEMS to be an almost certain loss of an election.
They really seem to have no real plan for our country at all. But my home state of Michigan, and the state I came to Pittsburgh FROM, (Virginia), have both started to gun for taking away all the abortion clinics, and forbidding abortion no matter what the case. I feel sick to my stomach about it. I've never known anyone who had to have an abortion---and these men seem to think that it is a FUN THING TO DO or something, when in fact, it's NOT. No woman WANTS an abortion, it's NOT something they set out to deliberately do, just to get out of being a mother. If the child has birth defects, is diseased, if the mother is raped, if the mother has danger and may die from the birth, etc., there are a MYRIAD of reasons WHY abortions happen, but to make it seem like a black and white issue is ridiculous.
What these men are doing, really, is stating to the whole world that they simply do not understand women anymore than the third world countries do, who try to keep women as slaves. What they are saying loud and clear is that they are just as primitive in their ability to fully understand females as the cavemen of Neanderthal times were. They want to grab us by the hair and drag us around the cave.
Where are the women of this country, and why aren't they outraged? Am I the only one who is?
There are many more Tony Aikin's out there, in state legislatures, that have conspired to do these things, to target women, to bully, antagonize, and brutalize women, and I'm sure their mothers are just so proud of them for it too. Are they so against abortion because they realize they should have been aborted themselves because they are vile human beings? Freud would have a field day with that one.
Why is our President in a campaign to renew his presidency another 4 years to FIX THE COUNTRY'S PROBLEMS, when the OTHER side is not concerned at all with any of THOSE things, but instead are obsessed with being OB-GYN's all of a sudden? This doesn't even seem like a real election to me, it seems like the biggest farce ever played out in the world stage since McCarthyism. Why would they shame our country so badly by doing these things? Do they really truly WANT to lose every woman's vote? Because that's one hell of a way to do it.
Alienate the women, the children, the elderly, the poor, the minorities, the illegal immigrants, the teachers, the union members, the radical liberals, and WHO IS LEFT TO VOTE?? The white, all-male, cronies. That's it. How the hell can anyone win anything when you are left with a small number of idiots, compared to an overwhelming majority of people?
This election could really turn horribly ugly and sour, and wrong, in so many ways.
It makes me feel very depressed. It makes me sad to know that a young baby boy is going to be born in a few weeks to my best friend's daughter, into a world that is so filled with hatred against women. The future of this country is truly being handed a big load of bullshit, and it makes me so angry I could scream.
I think I'm going to sign up to join the campaign for Obama, and walk around from house to house getting signatures, and doing everything I possibly can to make sure he wins this election. That seems to be the only hope for women for the next generation. It really makes me sad though.
Well, I have to go for now. Hope you have a good week...love you lots. XOXO
Love, Rebecca
