Writer's Block...and some apathy?

Hi Steve,

Yeah, I know Brian Wilson had some major issues with writer's block...mine isn't THAT bad...but I do still have these fleeting thoughts while I'm in the middle of folding laundry or cooking lunch or something, "I should be writing something profound...something amazing..." and yet my brain says, "Ok, I'll do it after I finish whatever I'm doing..." and then I get stuck on something else, forgetting about it for awhile...and then it nags at me again....but I just don't know WHAT the hell to write!!!!

Has that ever happened to you?  Writing songs doesn't seem like it would be THAT difficult, more like a Haiku or poem, right?  I mean, I have never tried, so I really don't know what it's like.  Finding the exact right word to convey more than one emotion or more than one thing----kinda like you did with "What Was," and how those words were in play throughout the whole song---that was cool.  But how do you decide to START such a thing??

That's where I have the most trouble with writing.  Once it's STARTED, then I'm cool, and it can just keep going.  Then I see the middle and the end as I go.  But the START for me, is the hardest part.
