Happy Valentines' Day!

Hi Stephen,

I hope you have had an enjoyable Valentines' Day today, with whomever you love.  The gaggly women on the Facebook pages have been speculating whether or not you'd go to your mother's grave to put roses on it, or if you'd be spoiling a woman friend with chocolates and flowers, etc., or other ideas of how you would be spending your day.  (They really don't have much else to do I guess).

I say, "it's just Thursday," and I'll leave it at that. Whatever you did, I hope you enjoyed it.

My day has been spent mostly in bed, I haven't felt well today at all.  I've had this sinus infection for about a week, and today it has morphed into being super tired and lots of trips to the bathroom.  I just don't feel very well.

But, I did manage to take my 91 year old mother-in-law her Valentines gift, and I had already put together 30 treat bags for the other residents of her nursing home facility, so that was my good deed of the day.  I like doing that little stuff for them, it makes me feel like I'm giving them a moment of being happy in an otherwise confused state of Alzheimer Disease.  It's almost like giving them back a memory that most of them have, and they recognize it, so it makes them happy for a few moments.

I know it's not much, but I'm glad to do it, and I try to do it often.  At least for holidays.  I baked brownies and cookies for their Christmas party too.  I'm sure I'll do something for St. Patricks Day and Easter as well.  It is really difficult to see your loved one slip away from you, though.  She recognizes that she SHOULD know me, but she can't remember my name anymore.  She's a good lady though, a tough one, she used to be an OR nurse, when brain surgery was brand new.  Impressive, eh?

So, knowing how intelligent she had to be for doing such a job all those years of her life, it's really heartbreaking to see her now, with no memory capability and not able to talk normally---words get switched around, or substituted for other words that she can't think of...she cannot read the newspaper anymore either, none of it makes any sense to her.  Watching t.v. is also confusing.  She thinks commercials are new shows. She LIVES the show she's watching too, as if it were real and she's a character in it herself.

Anyway, I hope you never have to deal with Alzheimer disease, for yourself or anyone you love.

And here is your obligatory Valentines' Day card, from little ole ME....

Now THAT is an awesome way to celebrate Valentines Day, don'tchathink?!
Come on, you KNOW you like it.
I can see you grinning.

I am such a naughty girl sometimes.  Oh, the remorse is just too much to bear, I tell ya!!! (NOT).

Here's another one that made me smile....

Well, I could write about 50 more pages about bondage and floggers, and all that fun stuff, but since I'm not feeling well....and on that note, I will bid thee a fond adieu for the evening.

Just know that you are an awesome human, and I love you lots. xoxox

---Rebecca  ps. Don't get a face lift, or I'll have to bite your face completely OFF.
