I hope you're enjoying a relaxing weekend doing whatever you enjoy doing. Last weekend we had a party with 50 people, that included a cookout, several tents with tables and chairs, lots of food, and of course, indoor equipment to play on afterwards...kinda like our own home dungeon. We have been receiving a lot of compliments, and now Pete wants to plan ANOTHER party for September. Sigh. I told him okay, but only if it's LESS THAN 20 people this time.
Anyway, so today we are getting ready to go see his mom at the Alzheimers' facility where she lives. It is becoming increasingly more difficult to go see her, though, because it is progressing so quickly now. She doesn't remember our names, and only sees a slight spark of, "I should know you." Then we chat a bit, and she can't get a lot of the words out, so she stutters and feels frustrated, and we feel the inclination to try and anticipate what she's trying to say, trying to end her sentences for her, etc., which only makes her more frustrated. Very awkward situation to say the least. It is hard to see it happen to such a smart woman that I once felt very close to and took care of. It is one of those natural human nature kind of things to try and put a little distance between us and her, though, because of the difficulty in understanding how to deal with it all.
I hope that Alzheimers never happens in your family. It is really no fun.
Last night, we took my mom to see Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons in concert! This guy was her all-time favorite heart-throb when she was younger, and we got front row, center seats! She got to shake his hand, AND took home the set list after the show. What she doesn't know is, Pete bought her the $100 autographed boxed set of CDs, for her birthday in September. She's gonna be GEEKED.

Needless to say, she had a total blast at this concert. Did you know that he is SEVENTY NINE YEARS OLD?!! Yeah, mister SIXTY FOUR YEAR OLD MAN?!! Sniff. Get off that sexy butt of yours my friend, if he can do it, you can do it even better!! He's a short little guy though, only 4'11" tall. I do hope you're considering another album at least, even if there's no tour to go with it.
In fact, Frankie told us that he was approached by a recording studio to do a new album, but he said, "With the crap music they play nowadays, I have nothing really to contribute, because I like love songs man, and love songs just aren't being done much anymore." So instead, he did a 1960's style CD of all his favorite cover songs. Now THAT is cool. You could do something like that!!!
I don't know if I have mentioned this to you or not, Steve, but I really think you should sing "Misty Blue" in honor of Kellie. But that's just my suggestion. I love that song. It seems very fitting.
Well anyway, I gotta get going so we can spend a little time with Florence. Then Pete has to go to work. He's been working 12-15 hour days, seven days a week. I rarely get to see him. But he took time off to take my mom out and that is cool. She was thrilled.
